Reata Engineering was established in 1994. Initially we were designing and building PABX related equipment. The first project was a call logging buffer which had the ability to sense the tariff pulses. This was installed mainly in hotels and apartment blocks which needed to bill the occupier for any phone calls made. We were also doing a lot of other development including telephone operated door openers and a hotel wakeup caller. We then moved to the automotive scenario were our first project was to design a cam shaft for a racing engine which revs up to 8000 RPM. In 1996 we started to the development of our ECU. The first version controlled only the spark. It was first installed and tested on a 1.3 liter Ford engine. Later it was also fitted on a 2.0 liter Ford engine.
